Afternoon lovely ladies! As you know, we at Poetic Licence can be a little quirky, definitely imaginative here and there, and without fail, a lot of fun. So it's safe to say we're a creative bunch and break the rules of fashion from time to time.
This week, we're thrilled to have new company in our zany ways! Introducing Carey of Drew & Alice: Adventures in Pretty. Carey is a self-described semi grown up with a passion for adventure and playfulness in taking fashion and style risks. She's an inspirational color enthusiast, with a knack for finding flattering fits, and our hearts are all aflutter over her latest blog article, Wearing Clashing Colors: Black and Brown, featuring a Poetic Licence peep-toe shootie with a distinctively feminine flared shape.
Carey goes against the grain, proudly breaking old traditional fashion rules. She's not matchy matchy, and we love her for it! This week she rebelliously attacked the outdated fashion faux pas of avoiding black and brown in the same outfit. She wow'd in her chic color-blocking style complimenting a sheer black blouse with brown and gold jewelry accents and Poetic Licence's own brown-toned Red Alert shootie.
Carey: "My absolute favorite shoe brand! They’re like works of art on your feet!"
We couldn't agree more! We as well are in love with PL's flattering and fun shaped shooties. So much so that the Red Alert Carey features is a style-type we continue to evolve through the seasons, featuring varying accents, fabrics, textures and pops of color. So no matter your style preferences or level of fashion risk-taking willingness, we've got a peep-toe shootie for you!
Just starting to dip your toe into fashion rebel territory? Check out the sleek and classic black Arriana, similar to the Red Alert with its floral accent and texture combination, kept elegant and dressy in a no-print all black.
Looking for something super straight forward? You'll find it in the All or Nothing, simple and to the point without any floral accents. Just a tad bit of quirk thrown in with subtle creative and fun stitching; it is Poetic Licence after all! And justly so, this style features multiple colors, some with varying coloring in the stitching, for our 'a little more zany' ladies out there.
Last but not least, the Ablaze, which we imagine has Carey ooh'ing and ahh'ing over its polka dot fun. Similar to the Arriana, but hello polka dots! We are obviously in swoon mode.
Take a cue from Adventures in Pretty- keep up the rebellion and challenge your style. Take Carey's word for it:
"I truly believe that personal style comes about when you throw away the rules and are free to dress how your heart leads you. Want to overload on the jewelry? Then be known for it! Do you think there’s a sneaker for every outfit? Then make it work!"
