3 Ways to Wear Green for St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is here! Ready for four leaf-clovers and all things green? We sure are! And not to mention, with spring on the horizon and the trees beginning to bloom, our world is about to look a lot more green. Why not embrace it?
Looking to go green on St. Patty’s Day, but need some inspiration to get you started? You’re in luck! Whether you’re looking to incorporate green into your everyday look or you’re putting together special outfit from scratch, getting into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit is easier than ever. Here’s three ways you can wear green for everyone’s favorite Irish holiday.
Stay Subtle
Even if green is not your color, you can still celebrate St. Patty’s Day in your own way. Add subtle green elements into your everyday look through accessories. Scarves, earrings, or even nail polish can be a great way to add small touches of green to your look without going overboard. If you really can’t stand the thought of wearing green, but still want to get in on the St. Patty’s Day fun, consider teal or mint as a substitution. They’re close enough on the color wheel, and they’re a bit more versatile and wearable. For example, Irregular Choice’s Gravitational Pull is a glittery teal oxford that’s perfect for capturing the fun and excitement of the holiday. Go for pieces like this – accessories that work not only on St. Patrick’s Day, but all year round.
Add Pops and Accents
Want to take your subtle St. Patrick’s Day look up a notch? Let’s add green into some of our more prominent pieces. Take the Mad Money from Poetic Licence, for example. These bold green and black striped wedges make a great statement piece that you can springboard the rest of your look off of. Add in a second prominent green item to bring it full circle, like a cardigan or handbag. To keep the look balanced add more neutral items, like a white tank or denim skirt. This will keep the green from overpowering the look, but will still create a cute, festive outfit for you to show off your Irish pride.
Go Green from Head to Toe
Alternatively, let St. Patrick’s Day take centerstage by fully embracing a head-to-toe green look for the holiday. There is a trick to doing this, however. While you want your look to be mostly green, you don’t want every single piece to be green. Accessories can be a great way to break up an all-green look. Start with some fun sandals like the Oh Momma, which can be paired with a casual green shift dress. Then play with makeup and accessories to balance out the look. Here’s a tip: gold, bronze and light pink work well with green. Sunglasses, necklaces and makeup can be ways you can subtly introduce these other tones.
