When we were little girls, we were always playing dress up. Putting on mom’s pearls and walking along in her high heels, we’d carry a pink handbag, strut in front of the mirror and say something that sounded especially grown-up, like “I’m going shopping today.” We loved the feeling of wearing clothes that made us look and feel older, and we couldn’t wait for the day when we’d finally start shopping in the women’s section.

Now, as adults, we look back fondly on our childhoods. Ironically, we now find ourselves drawn to more youthful styles – flowers, polka-dots, bright colors and patterns. We love to stand out and wear fun clothing that captures the joy of our youth. And today, we at Poetic Licence are excited to show you how one of these youthful styles is making a comeback in our new fall line.

Introducing the Baby Feet – our new mary jane inspired style!

As little girls, we loved our mary janes. They were perfect for running around on the playground, jumping rope and playing hopscotch – but they were also super cute and oh-so-girly, so they looked great with our lovely little skirts and dresses.

The Baby Feet evokes the same feeling of a mary jane flat, but with a more polished, grown-up look. It features multiple exaggerated straps with functioning buckles, reminiscent of the traditional, old-school mary jane. It also includes a chunky ‘90s inspired kitten heel for that extra bit of childhood nostalgia – if you grew up in the 90s, that is. 

But what makes this style functional is its adjustable ankle strap, back zipper for easy in and out, and it’s cushioned sole, which has extra support in the form of a heart-shaped pillow at the ball of the foot. This ensures that your feet will stay cozy all day long.
